The Castella Vocal Ensemble was founded in 1989 by Bernard Huneau, a music teacher at the Lycée Jean de La Fontaine in Château-Thierry. He and a few students who had recently graduated from the school decided to set up the ensemble, which has since grown to include some twenty young singers.
His ambition is to enable former students to continue their musical adventure by practising a quality art form.
Their repertoire is vast and covers five centuries of music, from the Renaissance (Tallis, Costeley, Sweelinck...) to the 21st century (Tavener, Rautavaara). Four discs testify to the breadth of this repertoire; the latest, recorded in October 2009, is devoted to Monteverdi, Purcell, Mendelssohn, Distler and Britten.
Since 2012, the direction of the Ensemble Vocal Castella has been entrusted to Nicolas Renaux, a former student of the school who is now a professional choral conductor, with the complicity of Bernard Huneau. This original and enriching collaboration marks one of the singularities of the ensemble.
The vocal ensemble lives to the rhythm of the departure of young adults and the arrival of young singers trained by the nursery that is the Jean de La Fontaine high school, remaining fundamentally young and dynamic.
Before or after the concert, let yourself be tempted by a nice walk in the village classified as a "Village of Character"...
Free to participate.
