About
Enjoy an educational and fun-filled day for the whole family at this grand traditional festival celebrating the end of the harvest!
A unique festival in France, taking place in the village squares and streets just like in the 19th century!
A grand parade of floats decorated with wheat, folk dances, a tightrope walker, old-fashioned threshing, vehicles, tractors, and antique equipment mingle joyfully with jazz, world music, and French songs.
Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of rural life. Children will be amazed by the farm animals and test their skills with giant wooden games.
A little history... In summer, beneath the medieval gates of the town, the hooves of horses, often harnessed to carts laden with sheaves of wheat, echoed. Their names were Bijou, Bayard... The carter's whip cracked through the air. These sheaves would be stored at the farm until threshing, which would take place in winter.
The last cart crossed the village, decorated with the "Harvest Dog," a sapling adorned with wheat, oats, and garden flowers—dahlias and gladioli. This sapling, presented to the farmers, was then attached to the gate or nearby, prominently displayed. It was a source of pride. The task was complete. The harvesters were happy.
A meal was shared at the masters' table: the main course was often a farm rooster, followed by Brie cheese and a "boulie" tart.
