Every Friday morning, the historic town center of Bray-sur-Seine comes alive for its traditional weekly market. Spread across the Place de la Halle, the Place de l'Église, and Rue Grande, this gathering stands out as one of the region's liveliest and most authentic markets, regularly hosting over a hundred vendors. The market's soul undoubtedly resides beneath its majestic grain hall—inaugurated in 1842 and listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments. Once a hub for the grain and veal trade supplying Paris via the river, this architectural masterpiece—featuring a mixed-material framework—now houses market stalls within a unique setting bathed in natural light from its glazed roof lantern. As you stroll through the aisles, you will discover an abundance of fresh produce and local specialties: seasonal fruits and vegetables, aged cheeses, rotisserie meats, fresh fish, and butchery products sit alongside stalls selling textiles, hardware, and general goods. Far more than just a place to shop, the Friday morning market is a true sensory experience and a friendly meeting place where the heart of local life beats.
