About

The Bassée National Nature Reserve is located in the heart of the Seine Valley.
Within this wetland area of national interest, the reserve covers 854 ha, which makes it the largest in the Ile-de-France region.

Between land and water, it offers a multitude of remarkable natural environments, in which many rare and endangered species find refuge: there are in fact nearly 600 plant species and 650 animal species!

To discover this jewel of nature, the reserve organises activities all year round, for young and old alike.
Whether you want to learn to recognise animal tracks, share the secrets of edible plants, insects or birds, or make your first nature creations, there is something for everyone!

Thematic guided tours can also be arranged on request.

Would you prefer to go for a walk on your own? Two discovery trails are available:

The Bois Prieux trail offers a 5 km loop along dry grassland, reedbeds, wet meadows, lakes, woods…
Take the trail booklet (adult or children’s version, from 6 years old) and let yourself be guided by the playful markers!
Don’t forget your binoculars, as there is an observatory, accessible to people with reduced mobility, where you can observe herons, egrets, ducks and other water birds at the beginning of the trail.

•  The Cocharde trail is located in Gouaix, around a lake bordered by the forest. All along this 2km circuit, you will get to know Mirabelle the common toad, through educational panels spread along the path and enjoy beautiful views!

What is a nature reserve?

Classified as such by ministerial decree, it is a natural area of interest, protected by specific regulations.
This nature reserve is managed by AGRENABA, the Association de Gestion de la Réserve Naturelle de la Bassée. This association ensures the preservation of the biodiversity of the reserve (fauna and flora), the implementation of a management of environments favourable to the reception of biodiversity and the development of its heritage.

To observe the animals in the best conditions, we advise you to be discreet, to wear neutral coloured clothes and to think of binoculars, if you have them.
Please note that dogs are not allowed, even if kept on a leash.
